Volunteers come together to care for war graves in Godalming

On Wednesday 14 October, our Volunteer Connections volunteers came together at Nightingale Cemetery in Godalming to help clean and tidy war graves in support of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

With the sun shining, the event offered an opportunity to spend time outdoors, meet others and contribute to the care of a meaningful local place. Working together, volunteers gave their time and attention to the graves, helping to keep them cared for as places of remembrance.

Alongside the practical activity, there was plenty of opportunity for conversation and connection. Shared volunteering events bring people together around a common purpose, offering a welcoming way to get involved in the community and get to know others.

Afterwards, volunteers enjoyed refreshments and a chance to chat. We are very grateful to Skillway Workshops for kindly allowing us to use their kitchen and benches, providing a lovely space for everyone to spend time together.

A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who joined us and helped make the day so special. Their time, care and enthusiasm are at the heart of these events.
