VCSE Development Officer Vacancy
Do you have experience of working with charities, voluntary organisations or community groups?
Are you passionate about helping local organisations to grow, develop and become more sustainable?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and approachable VCSE Development Officer to join our team, supporting voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations across Guildford and Waverley (South West Surrey).
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are quite the same. You could be helping a small community group think through its governance, advising an organisation on potential funding opportunities, bringing local organisations together through one of our networks, or working with partners to develop a new project in response to an identified community need.
About the role
As our VCSE Development Officer, you will build strong relationships with local organisations, helping them to develop their capacity, resilience and sustainability.
You will:
Provide practical advice and support to charities, voluntary and community organisations and social enterprises, including around funding, governance, volunteering, policies, organisational development and sustainability
Proactively engage with local organisations to understand what support they need
Help organisations access relevant resources, training, networks and opportunities
Help organisations develop projects in response to identified community needs
Build relationships and work collaboratively with VCSE organisations, statutory partners and other stakeholders
Coordinate and facilitate our local network meetings across Guildford and Waverley
Encourage networking, partnership working and the sharing of knowledge and good practice
Contribute to our communications, including newsletters, e-bulletins, social media and website
Help us understand and represent the issues, opportunities and challenges facing the local VCSE sector.
For an informal discussion about the role and the opportunities it offers, please contact our Joint CEO / Development Manager, Ian Ross – i.ross@vasws.org.uk / 07798 754027
About you
We are looking for someone who understands the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector and enjoys working with a wide range of people and organisations.
You will be a confident communicator and relationship builder, comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team. You'll be organised, able to manage competing priorities and, importantly, willing to listen, learn and find practical and creative solutions.
Experience of partnership working and an ability to develop strong networks are essential.
Experience of funding applications and providing funding advice would be an advantage.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to have a real impact on the strength and sustainability of the local voluntary and community sector. You will work with organisations of all sizes, helping them overcome challenges, identify opportunities and ultimately make an even greater difference to the communities they support.
You'll also be joining a supportive team where collaboration, sharing knowledge and working together are central to how we operate.
Our commitment to equal opportunities
We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. We aim to ensure that everyone is treated fairly throughout our recruitment process and employment.
We particularly encourage applications from people whose backgrounds and experiences reflect the diverse communities we support across Guildford and Waverley.
If you require any reasonable adjustments or additional support during the recruitment process, please let us know and we will be happy to discuss how we can support you.
We value the contribution that different perspectives, experiences and backgrounds bring to our organisation and are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive working environment for everyone.
