Voluntary Action South West Surrey was delighted to host a highly successful Mini Conference on Tuesday, bringing together local charities, community groups, and fundraising professionals for a morning of insight, networking, and practical learning.
The event featured a dynamic lineup of speakers and sessions designed to strengthen skills in funding, partnerships, and event management — key areas for any thriving voluntary organisation.
Highlights from the Day
The conference opened with Helen Stanley’s session, Bid to Succeed: Proposal and Grant Writing 101, offering practical advice on crafting compelling funding bids. Helen shared her expertise from over two decades in fundraising, providing attendees with tangible strategies to enhance their success rates.
Next, Naomi Miller from Social Research Builders led Sourcing Funding, exploring how data, storytelling, and strategy can help organisations unlock new opportunities.
Following a networking break, Kate Whittaker delivered Pollinating Partnerships: Unlocking Corporate Fundraising Potential, offering creative approaches to building lasting corporate relationships.
The morning concluded with an engaging Meet the Funder Panel, featuring Carol Dunnett (Freelance), Kat Wayne (The National Lottery), and Kate Peters (The Community Foundation). Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions directly to funders, gaining valuable insights into current funding priorities and processes.
Collaboration in Action
Beyond the informative presentations, the Mini Conference fostered meaningful connections among attendees. Conversations flowed throughout the morning, as delegates shared experiences, challenges, and ideas for future collaboration.
Voluntary Action South West Surrey is proud to provide spaces like this where local organisations can come together to learn, connect, and grow stronger together.
Thank You
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our speakers, attendees, and partners who contributed to making the day such a success.
